Epsom Swinger’s Club (it’s possibly not what you think)

No, this isn’t a review of a swinger’s club. Recently, I’ve been to a couple of meetings in Epsom, and a couple of things have caught my eye. They’re two nearby wifi networks. The first one’s SSID (or name) is Swinger_Club, and the second is Sex_Shop.

Sex Shop wifi

I don’t know where, exactly, these wifi networks are originating from (if the are even from the same place). What I do know is that these appear on my laptop whenever I’m at a particular Epsom church (which is where the meetings have been), which tickles me tremendously, as you wouldn’t expect to see those two things together.

There may, of course, not be either a swinger’s club or sex shop in Epsom, and it might be someone who just wanted a humorous and easily recognisable SSID for their wifi, rather than the boringly tedious default setting which comes on all BT HomeHubs and Sky Hubs. If so, then both those choices are amusing, however I think this one, which I also saw during those meetings, is the winner here:

Actually, I’ve just done a quick google search of “Pretty Fly for a WIFI”, and found this interesting article on the BBC’s website about passive-aggressive WIFI names.

In other tech related stuff, it appears that my laptop occasionally seems to struggle with either the spelling or the existence of certain words. This one for example:
